conferenceFifteen top Christian authors gather on May 11-12 for the inaugural Fiction Readers Summit at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Baker Book House in Grand Rapids. Authors including Mesu Andrews, Dani Pettrey, Colleen Coble and others will participate in panel discussions and meet readers.

The event will feature Christian authors whose work covers a wide swath of genres including historical, contemporary, romance and mystery. Local authors participating in the event are Susie Finkbeiner, Sharon Garlough Brown, Tracy Groot, and Lynn Austin.

“We want writers to be able to meet and really talk to their readers, and readers to connect with their favorite writers on a personal level,” said Chris Jager, fiction buyer at Baker Book House and committee chairperson. “The Fiction Readers Summit steps into the gap between publishers and readers.”

Finkbeiner sees the Fiction Readers Summit as a place to build a readers’ community and celebrate fiction. “I am so excited to meet with readers and to have the unique experience of hearing what their lives are like and what they love to read,” she said.

The Fiction Readers Summit includes a dinner with the authors on Thursday night, a day of panel discussions and opportunities to meet authors, and the Friday night “Signings and Selfies” event, which is open to the public and takes place at Baker Book House. Guests will be able to meet their favorite authors and take photos with each one.

To register for the Fiction Readers Summit, visit Registration is limited to 50 people; cost is $125 (Thursday dinner extra) until April 20, when it increases to $135. Registration closes on May 4 or when all 50 spots are filled.

Attendees will have the opportunity to win free books, and will receive a “swag bag” of goodies, including a discount coupon for Baker Book House.
