Terry’s Picks for August 2019

EVENTSWest Michigan Christian News writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area's faith-based arts/entertainment/enrichment events over the coming month. Here are three highlights for August:

Carrollton – The inspirational vocal quartet performs at 4pm Sun. Aug. 4 at the Newaygo County Fairgrounds, 815 Stewart Ave, Fremont MI. Among their recent musical collections are "Made For This" and "Everything or Nothing" (featuring the song "Shelter" and the ballad "Rebuilder"). They recently performed at Worship on the Waterfront in Grand Haven. Also on the bill is singer-songwriter Joe Guerra. Sponsored by CureUs, a nonprofit, faith-based organization. The performance is free; parking at fairgrounds is $5. The concert coincides with the Newaygo County Fair which runs through Aug. 9. For more information online

Ernie Haase and Signature Sound – The veteran Southern gospel quartet performs at 6 p.m. Sun. Aug. 18 at Sandy Pines Lakeside Chapel, 3630 26th St. (south of 142nd Ave.) in Dorr. The award-winning group's latest song collection is titled "Clear Skies." No tickets are necessary, a free-will offering will be received. Bringing your own lawn chairs for seating is recommended. Other artists scheduled for the month include The Martins (Aug. 4), the trio Selah (Aug. 11) and Keepers of the Faith (Aug. 25). For more information visit www.sandypineschapel.com

Mark Schultz - The inspirational singer-songwriter continues his tradition of closing out the Worship on the Waterfront (WOW) summer season at 7pm Sun. Aug. 25 in Lynn Sherwood Waterfront Stadium, downtown Grand Haven. No tickets are necessary: a free-will offering will be received. Skip-the-line passes for early admission may be available for $5 online. In case of rain or severe weather, WOW will be moved to Harvest Bible Chapel (Spring Lake) – South Campus, 2900 US-31 in Grand Haven.
