CD Review: “Sparkle” by Jasmine Hurtado

The bouncy title song expresses the desire that her faith would "sparkle for all the world to see."
The mixture of uptempo and ballad selections includes a side trip with "One Word" and its shades of a country-folk beat! Also differing in approach is the closing "Bought By Blood," with its ethereal background vocals.
A prayerful offering comes in "Priority": psalm-like lyrics addressed directly to God. In a similar vein is "I Will Not Fear," a duet with Ken Reynolds, a worship pastor at her Res Life Church.
With a mature voice and a heart for music ministry, the bi-lingual Jasmine has long been involved in Res Life's praise and worship team. Her vocals also are part of the "Higher" project of Res Life released earlier this year.
Jasmine is actually a veteran singer and performer, recording several Spanish pop releases and music videos and performing in select markets throughout the country. She plays both keyboards and clarinet, and received both training and experience at a very young age as part of a Grand Rapids choir academy.
Two years ago the singer issued a holiday EP "A Sparkling Christmas."
The new project is off to a great start. The title song was selected for the iTunes New Artist Spotlight. Visit online.
