Terry’s Picks for April 2021

Already this month, slowly but surely, concerts and other events are opening up around West Michigan. Later spring and summer look even more promising. Here are a few to consider for April.
* Danny Gokey – The faith-based singer-songwriter, and former "American Idol" finalist, brings his tour to Journey Church, 800 S. 24th St. in Battle Creek at 7pm Sunday April 11. Gokey is a Dove Award-winning and Grammy-nominated artist, and among his Christian radio hits are "Tell Your Heart To Beat Again," "Rise" and "Haven't Seen It Yet." Also performing will be Coby James. General admission tickets are $25; VIP/early entry tickets higher. Social distancing and other COVID guidelines in force. *Matt Baird – The lead singer of the band Spoken hosts an evening of music and worship at 7pm Fri. April 23 at Waypoint Community Church, 3041 96th Ave. in Zeeland. Performing an acoustic set is the local band Pauper's Field and also on the bill is Matt Moore Music. There is no admission charge. A free-will offering will be received for Barnabas Ministries, an organization which works with area high risk youth and families. This event will be held outside, weather permitting. *"Marriage Date Night" – Comedy and music are featured in this evening meant for married couples, with two area options: 7pm Fri. April 23 at Lifestream Church, 6561 Lake Michigan Dr. Allendale and 6pm Sat. April 24 at 12th St. Baptist Church, 3911 S. 12th St. Kalamazoo. Comedians David Dean and Kay Dodd and singer-songwriter Brian Weaver are hosts. Only one ticket needed per couple. General admission $39, VIP/reserved higher.
