New Music Review: Tammy Trent "Sunny Days"

“Sunny Days” has elements of encouragement, worship and testimony, buoyed by the project’s title song proclamation that after a season of pain, there is thankfulness that “the storm is at an end.”
There’s even a hip-hop segment in the song’s bridge – some new territory for the singer.
Many of the songs are sprinkled with electronic effects and danceable beats – exceptions are the ballads “You’ll Come” and “Don’t Let Him Be the Last To Know.”
She also reprises a hit song from earlier in her career, “Welcome Home.”
West Michigan fans recall the former Tammy Buffum, a Forest Hills Northern graduate who was involved in Christian music at a young age, in part under the influence of her gospel singing mother Judy.
Tammy released her first national label CD in the mid 1990s before she and husband Trent Lenderink moved to Nashville to pursue music opportunities.
After his tragic death in a diving accident, Tammy’s career began to focus on speaking and singing at conferences and on television. She wrote several books, sharing the story of her loss and her path toward healing as an encouragement to others.
The new album officially releases in early August but is already available via itunes at https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sunny-days/id666563833
Tammy returns to the Grand Rapids area next January 24 (2014) at the annual benefit concert for Tri-Unity Christian Schools at Grand Rapids First church.
