By Paul R. Kopenkoskey

Exodus Place No3Life has been harsh for John Eaton.
His arms are covered with self-harm scars made by razor cuts. He's lived for a time on the streets, suffered from alcoholism, and has served time in prison. On top of all this, Eaton suffers from Schizoaffective Disorder, a mental illness with psychotic symptoms of schizophrenia such as severe changes in mood, delusions and disorganized thinking.

He's entertained thoughts of suicide. But no more.

By Dr Rex M. Rogers

rex35Americans are among the most patriotic people in the world. But, what does the Bible have to say about patriotism? In the Bible a case can be made for patriotism and against patriotism. Dr. Rex M. Rogers examines what the scriptures have to say on this subject and defines Godly patriotism.

Can a Christian be a Patriot?

rex33Can a Christian be a patriot and be true to the faith? The question is not whether a Christian can be a patriot, but what he or she is a patriot for or about. Responsible Christian patriotism is thinking patriotism. It exalts biblical values. Christians can be patriotic. We just have to be patriotic about the right things.

Is the 4th of July Still Worth Celebrating?

next-section-divider

jeff53Why do we celebrate the 4th of July? Is it just a day to eat hotdogs and brats? Or is there more to it than that? Something amazing happened on July 4, 1776. A country was born where people had the freedom to follow the Lord and worship without constraint or hindrance. This year, let's celebrate the freedom that is worth fighting for.

"Religion says earn your life. Secular society says create your life. Jesus says, "My life for your life."

Timothy Keller

"Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice.
Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
they will be remembered forever.
They will have no fear of bad news;
their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
in the end they will look in triumph on their foes."

Ps 112:4-8
