By Paul R. Kopenkoskey

Damon and Newman 2

The newly shampooed carpets and freshly painted hallways are conspicuous indicators Tribes Church in Rockford is crackling with a new mission that came about when the former St. Stephen Lutheran Church congregation opted to birth a legacy church.

“It is the fruition of a dream,” said Dawn Scott Damon, co-founder and co-pastor of Tribes Church. Tribes Church’s pastoral team includes co-founder and lead pastor, Julian Newman.

The Carlson Report: How Evil Works

jeff46With all of the images of evil we see on TV and on the internet today, we have almost become numb to the reality of it. In fact, it has become a seduction that many people have been drawn into. Growing Pains Will Stretch You

By Dan Seaborn

A woman, who is also a developmental psychologist, recently wrote an article for the New York Times entitled, "When They're Grown the Real Pain Begins." Then one of her adult sons experienced a very tough year filled with a broken relationship, a job loss, along with a devastating injury, and she realized she was wrong.

Finance: Dave Says....

My husband and I recently inherited my parents’ home. It’s in a small, rural town with little industry, and we’ve been told that the place would be worth $85,000 if it’s cleaned up, compared to $75,000 as-is. Should we spend about $10,000 to really clean it up, replace a few things and make it presentable to sell it faster?
