Don't Be Left Behind in Seeing "Left Behind"

By Edwin L. Carpenter

"Left Behind" (2014) is a gripping and dramatic apocalyptic movie that is a must-see film! It is crisply directed by Vic Armstrong, featuring a strong script based on the book by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. A previous film based on the book starring Kirk Cameron appeared in theaters in 2001. The excellent actors in this movie all hit the right note. The new movie stars Nicolas Cage and Chad Michael Murray, in addition to Cassi Thomson, Nicky Whelan and Lea Thompson.

The synopsis states: The most important event in the history of mankind is happening right now.

The Carlson Report: Are Selfies Really Something New?

jeff45A person can't go far these days without being exposed to either someone taking a selfie or seeing someone's selfie posted on a social media page. Local Pastor, Historian Adds Depth to New Study Bible

By Ann Byle

kentdobson225For Pastor Kent Dobson, finding ways to engage readers with Scripture is part of his job. As a writer and former schoolteacher, he found an outlet for his love of the Bible, teaching and history thanks to his work on the new “NIV First-Century Study Bible.”

The “NIV First-Century Study Bible” released in September and is published by Zondervan. Mars Hill Bible Church will host a book launch party on Sunday, Oct. 5, following the 11 am church service, and Dobson will speak at the Kregel Parable Christian Stores/Cornerstone University 2014 Pastors Breakfast on Oct. 7. Keys for Kids Finds New Home

keysforkidsRecently we reported CBH Ministries changed their name to Keys for Kids.

More changes have occurred for them as they have moved their offices to 2060 43rd Street Southeast in Kentwood.

Recently they hosted an open house for friends of the ministry. We had the opportunity to tour the bright and cheerful building and learn more about this ministry that has brought biblical truths to generations of children.

You are invited to stop by and the friendly staff will be happy to give you a tour and tell you about what God is doing through Keys for Kids.

Finance: Dave Says....

davernew2Dear Dave,

My husband makes about $35,000 a year before taxes, and we have one child. We've also got a mortgage and $60,000 in student loan debt. About a year ago, my husband started work on a master's degree, because he thinks he wants to teach when he retires. He quit school after the baby was born, because he didn't think we could afford it any longer. I think he should finish the degree. Otherwise, he's just throwing away the $10,000 we've already got invested in the program. What do you think?

Final Words:

"Jesus gave His life to love me, and despite what it costs me, I can think of no greater calling than to love someone else in the same way that Jesus loved me."

Mary Morgan

"For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."
