Christian Concert/Arts Events on the Way
February has a couple of already sold-out shows – Drew & Ellie Holcomb Feb 11 and NeedToBreathe's acoustic show Feb. 23. But there's more to fill up the calendar.
First let's hit the big stage at Van Andel Arena:
*TobyMac – March 10 – The Grammy-winning Toby comes with a new album ("The Elements") and a great line-up, including Jeremy Camp, Jordan Feliz, Ryan Stevenson and We Are Messengers. Tickets start at $16 online.
*Casting Crowns – April 25 - The inspirational-pop band brings its "Only Jesus" tour along with Zach Williams and Austin French. Tickets start at $30 online.
*Hillsong United – June 25 – The famed worship ensemble – with Amanda Cook and Mack Brock - return for an evening of worship during their U.S. tour. Besides conventional seating, this tour features a standing room only area directly in front of the stage. Tickets start at $24.50 online. IN AREA CHURCHES
*Michael Jr. – 7pm March 3 – Grand Rapids First in Wyoming. The comedian performs "comedy that inspires." Tickets start at $16, available online.
*Matthew Smith – 7pm March 23 – Calvary Church, Beeline Rd. in Holland. The songwriter from Idelible Grace performs his repertoire of new melodies incorporating old hymn texts. Tickets start at $12, additional costs for seminar and meal. Available online.

*Francesca Battistelli – 7pm March 24 – Ridge Point Community Church, Holland. The singer-songwriter and her "Own It" tour comes to West Michigan ; with special guest Stars Go Dim and Elle Limebear. Tickets start at $26, a 4-pack for $22 each. Available online.
*Big Daddy Weave – 7pm Fri. March 29, FairHaven Church in Hudsonville. Advance tickets start at $15, higher at the door. Available online.
*Lecrae – 7pm April 6, Grand Rapids First in Wyoming. The hip-hop artist headlines one of the nation's largest faith-based hip-hop/rap tours. Also featuring Andy Mineo, KB, Tedashii, Trip Lee, 1K Phew and more. General admission tickets $25, group rates available. Visit online.
AT AREA COLLEGES
*Sandra McCracken – 7pm March 7 at the Jack Miller Center, Hope College, Holland. The singer-songwriter, who is leading a weeklong worship/renewal series at Western Seminary, presents an open-to-the-public concert. There is no admission charge, an offering will be received. *The Grey Havens – 7pm March 29 – Matthews Performing Arts Center, Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids. Special guest on this tour is Jess Ray. Tickets are $12 advance, $15 day of show. Available online.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
*Switchfoot – 6:30pm March 2 - 20 Monroe Live, downtown Grand Rapids. The band and its new
"Native Tongue" album leads the tour, with opening act Colony House. General admission standing room tickets are $35, with mezzanine tickets higher. Available online.
*HIS Christian Dance Academy – March 8 and 9 at DeVos Center for Arts and Worship at GR Christian High School. The ensemble presents "Ark," a contemporary ballet telling the story of Noah's ark. Three performances. Tickets are $15 adults, $12 seniors, $10 students. Available online.
*"When Calls The Heart" – The musical stage play, based on the book by Janet Oke, is presented Feb. 14 - March 2 at Master Arts Theater, 75 77th St. SW in Byron Township. The story is from Oke's first book of the Canadian West Series. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with 2 p.m. Saturday matinees. *Tamika Catchings – 8am Sat. March 16 at Calvary Church, E.Beltline NE Grand Rapids. The WNBA basketball star is the guest at a breakfast sponsored by the Grand Rapids chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Tickets are $40, include breakfast. Available online.

*"Rise Up O Men" - 7:30pm Tues. March 26 - The next installment in the musical-comedy "Church Basement Ladies" series in a one-night –only performance at Van Singel Fine Arts Center, in Byron Center.
