*Sundry – The local indie-alternative band (begun four years ago by several music and worship students at Grace Bible College) presents a CD release concert at 7pm Fri. Jan. 11 at Wealthy Theatre, 1130 Wealthy St. SE. Their new album is titled "Finding Chicago." "We're going back to where it all started," notes the band via social media. *"Hope for the Hurting Girl" – The presentation and discussion led by author Bruce W. Martin ("Desperate for Hope") is set for 7pm Thurs. Jan. 17 at Baker Book House, 2768 E. Paris Ave SE. Gain a better understanding of issues today's girls face including bullying, self-image, anxiety, substance abuse, depression and self-harm. The talk will help you engage young girls on these kind of topics and offer resources to help them overcome. RSVP requested but not required. *Calvin Symposium on Worship – The annual conference - featuring sessions on various aspects of Christian worship, including music and other arts – is set for Jan. 24-26, 2019 at Calvin College and Seminary in Grand Rapids. Among the workshop titles: "Artwork in the Church: Underscoring Holy Scripture," "Skills and Drills for the Emerging Worship Leader" and "How to Play (and use) Psalms" (led by The Psalm Project). Plenary meetings and vesper worship services are included. Pre-registration is required. Fees vary. Registration deadline is Jan. 16. Some sessions are available via livestream.
