Terry’s Picks for September 2017

EVENTSWest Michigan Christian News writer Terry DeBoer offers some suggestions for faith-based arts and entertainment/enrichment events over the coming month. Here are his three picks for September:

*"At The Foot of the Crosses" – A spiritual and patriotic event features music as well as ceremonies honoring veterans and first responders; and is set for Noon to 5 p.m. Sun. Sept. 10 at Easton United Methodist Church, 4970 W. Potters Rd. Ionia. The free event includes special musical guests the gospel duo the Chrisagis Brothers. The setting is at the foot of the three outdoor crosses on the Easton church grounds. "We try to have this annual event on the closest Sunday to 9/11 in remembrance of the tragedy on September 11, 2001," said organizer Chris Moore.  For more info visit: www.atthefootofthecrosses.com

*Matt Maher - The singer-songwriter/worship leader performs at 6pm Sun. Sept. 24 at Community Reformed Church, 10376 Felch St. Zeeland. His popular songs include "All the People Said Amen," "Lord, I Need You," and "Turn Around." His new album ("Echoes") features his latest song, "Your Love Defends Me,' which already has topped worship music charts. Tickets are $20 advance ($25 day of show). *Manifest Worship: A Night of Worship & the Word." – This multi-faceted event is set for 6:30 p.m. Fri. Sept. 29 at New Hope Baptist Church, 130 Delaware SW. Grand Rapids. West Michigan worship artists including Glenda R. Williams, Kenneth Henderson , Ashlie Johnson, Jasmine Hurtado and a community choir will be participating; and among speakers are Pastor Tarence Lauchie, Lady Eva Lauchie and Ken Reynolds. The event is hosted by Nate Glasper Jr. Admission is a donation of school supplies, personal hygiene items, or used eyeglasses. Presented by IL2P Ministries and The Growth Center Inc.
