EVENTSWest Michigan Christian News writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area's faith-based arts and entertainment events over the coming month. Here are three highlights for December:

*Journey To Bethlehem – Numerous Grand Haven churches combine efforts for this dramatic outdoor Christmas story presentation Thur. – Sat. Dec. 8 - 10 beginning at Church of the Dunes, 717 Sheldon in Grand Haven. Along your journey you'll meet Roman soldiers, the Magi, prophets and the shopkeepers in Bethlehem. Like the shepherds of old, you also will be led to the stable to see Mary, Joseph and the Christ child. Tickets are 5 dollars, and are designated for a certain time (likely between 5:15 and 8:30 p.m.) on the event date. To purchase tickets and for more info visit www.journey2bethlehem.com.

*Living Nativity – Several of these presentations can be seen around West Michigan during December. One such program is at Brookside Christian Reformed Church, 3600 Kalamazoo Ave. SE in Grand Rapids. Viewing times are at 7, 7:30 and 8 p.m. Fri-Sun. Dec. 9-11. A narrator and music soundtrack are included. Contact www.brooksidecrc.orgor 616-452-3191. Also, a community nativity is presented 7 – 9 p.m. Fri. Dec. 16 at the corner of Bridge and Main Streets in downtown Rockford. Both of these events are free and open to the public.

*LUMIN8 Christmas Musical – The presentation by the Lumin8 Children's Choir of Calvary Church is set for 6 p.m. Sun. Dec. 18 in the Calvary sanctuary, 707 E. Beltline NE. Grand Rapids. Their musical production "We Three Spies" tells the story of a group of kids secretly bringing Christmas cheer to the needy while trying to keep their Scrooge-like landlord from evicting them from their headquarters and canceling their Christmas program. See what some unconditional love from God can do at Christmastime! There is no admission charge. Contact www.calvarygr.org or 616-956-9377.
