masterarts4The Board of Master Arts Theater is pleased to announce that we have appointed Tim Van Bruggen as the new Executive Director, effective November 9, 2015. Priscilla McDonald will continue in her role as Artistic Director, but Tim will assume many of the responsibilities formerly handled by her, including organizational leadership and implementation of the Strategic Plan.

After careful consideration and numerous interviews of a dozen candidates, each with unique qualifications, and after much prayer and reflection, we selected Tim Van Bruggen as the one best suited to take up the particular administrative and leadership responsibilities as Executive Director.

Tim and his family (wife and two boys) are presently living near Tampa, Florida, though Tim is a West Michigan native. He graduated from Hope College with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Theater. He was heavily involved in theater at Hope and at the Holland Civic Theater. Since then, he has served several churches as Worship Pastor and Theater and Arts Director. He continues to be involved in acting and directing for Christian community theaters. Also, he has written and adapted several scripts for stage plays.

His love for live theater is evident. He was here for a visit during our 30th anniversary celebration, attending several of our productions with rapt interest and delight. Tim mentioned that he has had a high regard for the excellent theater leadership of Priscilla McDonald and has long admired her work and her Christian perspective.

Tim has a strong Christian testimony of the Lord's grace in his own life and his faith in Christ as Lord and Savior. He believes strongly in the Master Arts mission: to positively impact West Michigan artists and audiences through community theater that is wholesome, enlightening, and enriching, guided by a Christian worldview.

He also has had considerable work experience in sales, office management, and administration. Over the years he has developed technical skills in computer support, webpage design, marketing, music and video editing, theater lighting and sound.

We want to thank you for your prayers and interest in this lengthy and complex search to find the right person for this important role with Master Arts. Please continue to pray, as Tim and his family make the move back to West Michigan and as Tim begins to take leadership in bringing Master Arts to the next stage of growth and development in its ministry in West Michigan.

Sincerely in Christ,

The Master Arts Board
