EVENTSWest Michigan Christian writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area’s faith-based arts and entertainment events over the coming month. Here are a few December highlights:

*“Women's Christmas Tea” – Susan Sorensen is the special guest at 3 p.m. Sun. Dec. 7 at Maranatha Bible Conference, 4759 Lake Harbor Road, Muskegon. Sorensen is women’s ministry coordinator at Calvary Church in Grand Rapids and co-author of the 90-day devotional “Praying Through Cancer: Set Your Heart Free From Fear” (Harper Collins). Her holiday message parallels a familiar Christmas carol. Worship leader is Sarah Whaley, chapel coordinator at Cornerstone University. There will also be a special presentation by the Muskegon Rescue Mission. Tickets are $20 general ($15 for Maranatha members) and available at www.vacationwithpurpose.org. (231)-798-2161.

*“Christmas With Selah” – The award-winning, inspirational trio performs sounds of the season at 7:30 p.m. Fri. Dec. 12 at Van Singel Fine Arts Auditorium, 8500 Burlingame Ave. SW. The ensemble has a string of Christian radio hits, and their Christmas album “Rose of Bethlehem” continues to be a favorite more than a decade after its release. The trio features Todd Smith, Amy Perry and vocalist/keyboardist Alan Todd. (See them sing the holiday favorite “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”). Reserved seat tickets are $34.50 and are available at the box office or on line at, 878-6800.

*Annie Moses Band – The lively string ensemble presents a concert of Christmas music in their “classical-crossover” style at 7 p.m. Dec. 20 at Grace Community Church, 3500 New Holland St. Hudsonville. Harp and other strings combine for songs such as “O Holy Night” and “Carol of the Bells” under the direction of lead singer/violinist Annie Wolaver. The group hosted its own PBS network holiday special several years ago. (See their version of “What Child Is This?” online.  Special guest is Joshua Carswell. General admission tickets are $15 and available at www.itickets.com or 800-965-9324. Call for info 669-6507.
