EVENTSWest Michigan Christian web writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area’s faith-based arts and entertainment events over the coming month. Here are three October highlights:

*Sara Groves – The inspirational singer-songwriter performs at 7 p.m. Thurs. Oct. 16 in Grace Community Church, 3500 New Holland St. Hudsonville. Through 10 studio albums and several special projects, Groves has woven thoughtful insights and introspection through her eyes of faith and into her music and life. Among her song collections are “Conversations,” “All Right Here,” and “Fireflies and Songs.” She burst onto the Christian music scene more than a dozen years ago, claiming a Dove Award nomination as New Artist of the Year. General admission tickets are $12, and can be ordered by pone at 800-965-9324 or at www.itickets.com. For more information contact the church at 616-669-6507 or www.solagrace.org.

*Triumphant Quartet and the Skylight Quartet – The Southern gospel ensembles perform at 7 p.m. Fri. Oct 24 at Fellowship Reformed Church, 6610 36th Ave. Hudsonville. The Triumphant Quartet is a Grammy-nominated group featuring singer-songwriter Scotty Inman. Their most recent release is the praise-oriented collection “Awesome God” (www.triumphantquartet.com). The West Michigan-based Skylight Quartet includes singers Rob Schrock, Mike Looney, Kurt VanderLoon and Robert Vander Leest. Among their notable tunes are “Going Home” and “If We Ever Needed the Lord Before” (www.skylightquartet.com). General admission tickets are $12, and available via www.itickets.com or 800-965-9324. Doors open at 6 p.m.

* Lecrae – The Christian hip-hop/rap artist performs at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 in the DeltaPlex, 2500 Turner Ave. NW in Walker. Lecrae (his given name is Lecrae Moore) is the hottest artist in the faith-inspired genre: his new CD, “Anomoly,” topped the overall Billboard charts selling more than 80,000 units its first week in stores. Tickets including fees are $29.50 general admission, with group rate discounts and VIP tickets available. Tickets are $5 more at the door. Longtime Lecrae collaborator Andy Mineo is also on the bill.
