allendaleFifth grade students from Allendale Christian Schools learned a little kindness still goes a long way. They recently sent heartfelt 'thank you notes and cards to Holland Home staff and residents in an effort to spread "contagious kindness" in light of the pandemic. The notes were part of Choose Kind – Spread Kind 5th grade initiative.

The students sent letters to more than 50 national, state and local leaders and are seeing their efforts spread. At a time of significant stress and unrest, the kids are learning to love, encourage and care for other people. Holland Home leadership and staff were touched by the gesture.

CEO Mina Breuker sent a personal message to teachers John VandenBerg and Jessica Kirchoff thanking them for spreading kindness and affirming their efforts because "words matter". She mentioned that the notes were a great reminder of how it "not only takes a team for those we serve, but also a supportive community." Holland Home's 1,400 employees serves 5,000 people across greater Grand Rapids each day.
