West Michigan Christian News writer Terry DeBoer surveys the landscape for the area's faith-inspired arts/entertainment/enrichment events over the coming month. Here are three highlights for February:
"Winter Mosaic" – The first of its kind event for Master Arts Theatre is staged at 7pm Tues. Feb. 11 at Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th St SW in Byron Center. It's a variety of performances featuring music theatre, dance and spoken word. Included in the evening is the "reveal" of the productions for the upcoming 2020-2021 season. A specially-formed choir performs stage tunes such as "From Now On" from "The Greatest Showman." Guest speaker is Jessica Lyn Sosnoski of The Company of Strangers Theatre. Neshama – The new, inspirational folk band provides the music at a unique event which includes an exclusive local artisan vendor "Winter Market" Thursday Feb. 20 at Christ's Chapel, Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids. Neshama (the Hebrew word for "soul") performed last year at the Big Ticket Festival in Gaylord. Also on the bill is the duo Jenny & Tyler. Market items include homemade goods, food, jewelry, etc. Shopping starts at 5pm with the concert at 7pm. Also shopping after the concert. Tickets are $15 adult, $12 students. Big Daddy Weave – The inspirational-pop band featuring lead singer Mike Weaver performs at 7pm Sun. Feb. 23 at Ridge Point Community Church, 340 104th Ave. Holland. Among their catalogue of Christian radio hits are "Redeemed," "My Story" and the more recent "Alive." Their latest album is "When the Light Comes." Also performing are Paul and Hannah McClure of Bethel Music. Tickets are $19.95 general admission, $14.95 group rate. High ticket levels such as early entry and Q&A are also available.
