"Shepherds and Kings" – The musical Christmas program of "Christmas at Calvary" is set for 7pm Dec. 13 and 3pm Dec. 14 and 15 at Calvary Church, 707 E. Beltline NE, Grand Rapids. The musical/drama tells of a widow and a waitress, who in seasons of suffering and difficulty give each other the gift of hope in unexpected ways. The plot features many twists and turns as well as outright surprises. The setting is an Italian diner! Tickets are $5, available at www.calvarygr.org/christmasatcalvary.
The Kings Choraliers - The area mens' choir presents a Christmas program at 7:30pm Sun. Dec. 15 at LaGrave Ave. Christian Reformed Church, 107 LaGrave Ave. SE in downtown Grand Rapids. The ensemble has music in a variety of styles from classical to contemporary. It is directed by Ronald Rogers. The group has at least one Christmas album ("Beautiful Star of Bethlehem") among its recordings. Also on the program is the East Grand Rapids Bella Voce Choir. No tickets are necessary and there is no admission charge.
Year End Celebration – A full-family, two-night celebration helping to ring in the new year is set for Dec. 30-Jan. 1 at Gull Lake Ministries Resort and Retreat Center, 1800 Burlington Dr., Hickory Corners, MI (northeast of Kalamazoo). Plenty of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages, including bobsledding and zip line, bowling alley, climbing wall, bonfire and optional polar bear swim. Food and two-night accommodations included. Glitter, tinsel, countdown and balloon drop at midnight New Year's Eve. Pricing varies by age.
